Healthy Lifestyles
Children in KS1 children know that washing hands with soap and water can help stop germs spreading. They are aware of the importance of regular teeth brushing and visiting the dentist.. They can name certain foods and drinks which are healthy/unhealthy for our bodies, including our teeth.
Children in year 3 know that regular exercise benefits our bodies. They are aware of the impact a lack of sleep has on their bodies and wellbeing.
Children in year 4 can discuss how to maintain oral hygiene and dental health. They know, in some detail, about the effects different foods and drinks have on dental health.
Children in year 5 are able to talk about how drugs like nicotine affect health and wellbeing. They are aware that drug use can become a habit, which is difficult to break. They know about legal and illegal drugs.
Children in year 6 know who to speak to when there are early signs of illness, including mental ill health. They know that, used correctly, medicines can be helpful in managing illness.
