Children in Need November 2024
We had a wear something spotty day in school to raise money for Children in Need. We were amazing and raised £197.20. Our half termly value focus for this half term is compassion and we understand the important work and many different ways in which our money will help those in need in our country.
Generosity in Action
It was lovely to receive a message from Henry's Mum sharing the following:
Henry has helped myself at work again with sending in gifts to Dunelm for their 'Delivering Joy Campaign' for Child Action North West, ELHT and CARITAS.
What a fantastic way to be generous with time and make a difference to others.
All Saints' Day 2024
Each class across school chose a saint to learn something about and a colour to wear to celebrate All Saints' Day when school reopened after half term on the 4th November. We asked for donations of £1 which will be given to the Bishop for distributing to his chosen charity when he visits us on the 13th November.
We learnt LOTS about the different saints and I was blown away by the facts shared as children made their way into school and stopped to tell me what they had found out.
EYFS: Saint Nicholas, wearing red
Willow (Y1): Saint John, the saint of love, loyalty and friendship, wearing green
Maple (Y1/2): Saint Theresa, wearing white

September 2024
Our Year 6 children helped to run our Macmillan Coffee Morning. We showed the value of generosity, our focus value for this half term, and donated cakes. We then invited members of the local community to come and help us to raise money for Macmillan by sharing some cake and a coffee with us. We raised an amazing amount of over £300.
It is important to us that we develop an understanding that within our own country there are people who need help and support. We believe it is our duty to support others wherever we are able to. In addition to the local community events which took place, as shared on the 'Reaching out within our community' page, All Saints' have supported the following charity events during the year.
Children in Need-17th November 2023
In support of Children in Need, we held a wear something 'yellow and/or spotty' day in school on the 17th November, In worship, we learnt about the work of the Children in Need in charity and how this linked to the Christian value of generosity and the quote from the Bible, 'God loves a cheerful giver'. We raised £228.35 for Children in Need. Thank you to all who supported this.
British Legion-November 2023
We appreciate the bravery our soldiers showed, and continue to show, when faced with serving our country in war. Our year 5 children were proactive in selling British Legion merchandise in the run up to Remembrance Day to raise funds to support soldiers and their families who have been affected by war. We raised over £164.86 this year for this fantastic charity.
October Half Term Charity Challenge!
Before October half term, we were learning about what 'charity' actually means and about the work of some charities whom we support regularly. We learnt about why we held a Macmillan Coffee Morning in school, why we support the local foodbank, what Children in Need is all about and about the Royal British Legion who we support through the Poppy Appeal every year.
This led to the children being challenged to find out about a charity, maybe one they are interested in or have heard about before, maybe one their families know about and support, and to then share this information with their teacher so that the individual classes could vote on which charity to support through whatever ways the children came up with over October half term. We talked lots about how support for a charity could be through donations of money or items, but could also be by donating our time to help in some way or raising awareness of the charity to others.
It was lovely that every class chose a charity to find out more about and pledge to help. We were also delighted that some children went on to support their classes chosen charity in some way.
The PowerPoint below shows the different charities chosen to support and what the children who went on to participate in supporting the charity did to help.
Well done to all who got involved!
Harvest Appeal-11th October 2023
Thank you to all who donated non perishable items for the local food bank and/or contributions towards the Bishop's Harvest Appeal. as part of our Harvest Festival today. It was lovely to see such generosity shown from our school community towards those in need in the local community and the wider world.
MacMillan Coffee Morning=22nd September 2023
Whilst some of our own families have experienced support from MacMillan, the work that MacMillan do extends beyond supporting families just within our school or local community. Each year, our year 6 children lead a MacMillan coffee morning, This year we raised £360 for this worthwhile charity! Super job All Saints'.
