Welcome to Sycamore class - a class for year 4, year 5 and year 6! What an exciting this year will be, with hopefully lots of things going back to the way they were! I can promise an exciting year full of adventures, where we will be creating memories and achieving lots of amazing things.
In this second half term, we will be focusing on some inspirational texts and topics. In English we will be looking at stories from other cultures looking at the novel Rubbish Town Hero. Within this unit we will be looking at how to write an effective newspaper report using punctuation for direct speech as well as fronted adverbials for cohesion. In guided reading we will be developing our fluency and expression with shared and whole class reading. We will also be gaining some background information for our history unit - The Golden Age of Baghdad (Early Islamic Civilisation).
In DT, we are covering two units - a food unit where we will be making campfire bread and a textiles unit where we will be sewing some Christmas decorations.
In science we will be continuing our Living Things unit, looking at adaptations, habitats and climate change.
In RE we will be looking at the Christmas story.
