Reading is the key to success in education and a key priority for school. The very best way that you can support your child, and help them to achieve the best they are able to achieve, is to listen to your child read. We would also encourage you to question your child about what they are reading – below are some ideas to support and encourage reading. We know that children in upper key stage 2 are often reluctant to read out loud to parents, but it really does make a difference when they do! We will check children's reading diaries regularly for parent signatures to indicate that reading is taking place.
If we all work together to encourage reading, hopefully the children will reap the benefits of this, understand the importance of reading regularly and develop a real love for reading for pleasure.
