Welcome to Oak Class Year 6. What an exciting year this year will be as you begin the journey into your final year at primary school. Year 6 will be such a fantastic year full of adventures, creating memories and achieving lots of special things.
In spring 1, we will be focusing on some inspirational texts and topics. In English, we are going to explore the book 'Darwin's Dragons' and go on an adventure to the Galapagos Islands using what we learnt in our evolution and inheritance unit in science to help us on this trip. In geography, we will be focusing on the amazing UK and exploring the different countries and counties which surround us. We will also look at the human and physical features of the UK and think about trade within the UK, looking at what we import and export and the reasons for this.
In science, we will continue to focus on 'Living things and their Habitats' thinking about the different animal groups and how we can classify different living things. Your RE unit is looking at the Exodus and looking back at the Jewish and Christian traditions and how these religions are so closely linked.
As you can see from the above information, the learning taking place in Oak is very exciting and I know you will all learn lots and produce some wonderful work along the way, whilst having fun doing all of this.
'Every day is a chance to learn!'
