Welcome to Hazel class!!

Hello from Mrs Hargreaves and Mrs Bolton!  This half term, we also welcome Miss Hayley to our teaching team.  Miss Hayley is a 3rd year student from Edge Hill College and is training to become a teacher.  This is her final placement so she will spend a lot of time planning, and teaching alongside myself.

Spring 2.

This half term, in English we are reading a book called Owen and the Soldier by Lisa Thompson.  Our reading activities will be connected to this text.  Our writing focus activities will be linked to a book called Major Glad, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke.  We will also be continuing with spellings, grammar and punctuation lessons each day.

In Maths, our focus will be on:

Addition and subtraction

Multiplication and division

Fractions

Our science unit of learning continues to be Living things and their habitats, as well as learning more about plants and completing a scientist study learning all about Ernest Shackleton.

Our RE units are the The New Testament and Easter.

In History, we will be learning about the moon landings.

Our Geography unit is a study of the UK, with a focus on London as our capital city.

Our PE units in the Spring 2 term are hockey and tag rugby.

In Art we will be completing an artist study about Henri Matisse, creating our own artwork in his style.

Our DT unit is mechanisms.  The children children will design and create a vehicle with moving parts.

Our PSHE unit of learning is all Physical Health and Mental Well Being, Keeping Safe and Growing and Changing

In music we will be inventing a musical story, using our voices and instruments.

In computing, the topics are Creating Media - making music and Data and Information - pictograms. 

Mrs Chippendale will also be leading the children in their outdoor learning sessions in the forest.
