Department for Education

Our Ministers for the Department of Education

The link teacher for the Department of Education is Mrs Saporita - Clark.

On 14th November 2024, the Department for Education had their first meeting with other members of the Forward as One Pupil Advisory Board.  This meeting took place via zoom.  In the meeting, the children discussed the meaning of the word Education (the process of teaching or learning - especially in a school.  The knowledge that you get from this teaching and learning process).

We discussed that members of the board would be learning more about Article 29 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which states that children's education should help them fully develop their personalities, talents and abilities.  It should teach them to understand their own rights, and to respect other people's rights, cultures and differences.  It should help them to live peacefully and to protect the environment.

The children have shared this right (Article 29) with the school during an assembly and have completed a questionnaire to find out the pupils' thoughts on how this right is met at All Saints'.  The pupils have also been invited to create posters or presentations sharing how they believe that staff at All Saints' meet this right for the children.

During the Spring term, the Ministers for the Department of Education thought carefully about Article 29 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which states that children's education should help them fully develop their personalities, talents and abilities.  It should teach them to understand their own rights, and to respect other people's rights, cultures and differences.  It should help them to live peacefully and to protect the environment.

They paid particular attention to the part which states that 'education should help them fully develop their personalities, talents and abilities.'  The ministers shared that they would like to create opportunities for ALL children to be able to share ANY talent they may have.  It was decided that we would set up a display to showcase the talents of the pupils of All Saints'.  Children can ask their parents to send photos of them showcasing their talents to Mrs Hargreaves and these will then form part of our 'All Saints' has Talent' display.

The Ministers also suggested that we hold a talent show at the end of the summer term.  The school will be able to enjoy a show of children's different talents and abilities with the Ministers on the Department of Education taking on the role of judges.
