PE

Autumn 1 feedback

WWW –

  • Year 3 are really enjoying PE and have been very positive and enthusiastic about their lessons.
  • Pupils are developing their confidence and enjoyment of physical activity.
  • Children are given opportunities to develop and practise a range of different PE skills through games and activities.
  • Children are developing their ability to work as part of a team, communicate with others and follow the rules of different games.
  • Pupils are showing enthusiasm when taking part in competitive activities, particularly matches and games.
  • Staff are supporting children during activities and helping them to understand the expectations and rules of the games.

EBI –

  • Roles were swapped regularly during PE games so that more children have the opportunity to participate. For example, in cricket, children should take turns bowling rather than the same children always taking on the same roles.
  • More time was allocated to matches and competitions within PE lessons, allowing children to apply and develop the skills they have learned.
  • Lesson plans were followed consistently, with the structure being: first unit, break, second unit, and then Forest School at the end of the lesson.
  • All children had their PE kits in school. Where a child does not have their kit, teachers should follow this up with parents/carers.
  • If a child does not have their PE kit, despite this having been followed up, they should still complete the relevant activity sheet or alternative PE-related task rather than sitting with nothing to do.
  • Teachers and TAs could support with choosing teams and groups to ensure that these are fair, balanced and inclusive.
