Welcome to Elder Class!
Our theme that we will be focusing on for this term is Amazon Adventures!
We will be looking at stories from other cultures in English, focusing particularly on stories set in the Amazon Rainforest and thinking about how the climate and life in these places is very different from our own. We will also be focusing on global topics, such as palm oil, to create debates and discussions.
Our geography is focusing on what is life like in the Amazon Rainforest? We will be taking virtual visits to the Amazon and looking at some of the amazing species which call the rainforest home. We will also focus on the location of the Amazon and what makes up a rainforest.
History, after May half term, will focus on some of the things that were important to local Victorians and we will explore this period of history.
In RE we are focusing on 'Ideas about God' this first half term looking at how everyone views God differently and also focusing on what Non-Christian religions believe about God and how their views are similar and different to our views as Christians. After May half term, we will then be looking at people of faith and look at the lives and work of people such as Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King.
Our science topics we will be covering before summer are animals including humans and living things and their habitats which also has a fantastic link to some of the species we will find living in the Amazon Rainforest.
Below is lots of information that you will find useful about the topics we are focusing on in class, information about spelling and homework and some useful websites that your children can go on at home to practice various skills.
